田島松二先生（九州大学名誉教授）の還暦のお祝いに編集した論文集です。第2編集者のMargaret Connollyは、家入がスコットランドのセント・アンドルーズ大学に留学していたときからの友人で、中英語写本、初期印刷本の研究で知られている研究者です。現在は、セント・アンドルーズ大学で中世英語文学を教えています。
